CHILDRENS 12" TO 26" BIKES

It can be a confusing process understanding which size bike will best suit you're child when surrounded with many different options, to help with this we've created a basic sizing guide to help get you started on choosing the perfect size bike for your little ripper! Our range of children's bikes are available in multiple sizes, starting with 12" wheels for the youngest of riders through to 26" for pre teens.

Sizing is one of, if not the most important choice when it comes to selecting a new bike. Choose a bike that is too small and the rider will feel cramped whilst finding it difficult to pedal and maneuvere. On the flip side, a bike that is too big will be again be uncomfortable for the rider with difficulty reaching the handlebars and/or putting their feet on the ground along with causing issues with handling and maneuverability (all serious safety concerns). On the correct size bike a rider should be able to hop on and off without difficulty, feel comfortable and be easily able to reach the handlebars and put their feet flat on the ground. When it comes time to ride, a correct fitting bike should feel both responsive and maneuverable. The majority of children's bikes will have a higher standover height to allow the rider to be seated whilst pedaling and maintain a smooth pedaling motion.

You may become confused with children's bicycle sizing when browsing in bike store versus department stores like Big W and K Mart. Bike stores will always list sizing in inches (which is the industry standard) while department stores list sizing in centimetres. The sizes, regardless of wheter they are in inches or centimetres, relate the the wheel size of the bike. The chart below shows the common sizes children's bikes are available in in both inches and centimetres.

Tip: Multiple sizes may be suitable per rider. If the rider is closer to the maximum height range, we recommend selecting the next size bike up to allow room for future growth. We recommend trying your child on multiple bikes and making your selection based on your childs comfort and confidence level.
